We hope that this site will he useful to you and provide helpful information about Veteran’s issues and events here in Minnesota and from around the Nation. Please feel free to contact our chapter about events and issues that will benefit our fellow Veterans.
Currently I am working with Legislators to bring about the passage of a Tax Exemption Bill for our retirement pay here in Minnesota. I have been attending meetings at the Capital with several Legislators and interested parties even though most of the offices are closed and empty for the summer. Business leaders are very interested in the passage of the Tax Exemption Bill, because it will make Minnesota a better place for them as well as retirees. The Governor has publicly endorsed the bill and will continue to support us until the bill is passed. There will be more information listed under Legislation on our web site.
I represent TREA on the United Legislative Council of Minnesota (UVLC). This group is comprised of Veteran’s organizations from around the state. The group comes together each month on the first Wednesday. Information on Veteran’s issues is presented from many sources such as the Regional VA Office, the Minnesota Veterans Commissioner, St Cloud VA Center, Minneapolis VA Medical Center and many more. We attend Retiree Activity Days (RAD) through out the state. I attended the RAD at Camp Ripley on the 26th of August. There were 228 retirees in attendance at the RAD. Great information was presented by various speakers during the two session day. The next RAD will be at Mystic Lake Casino on the 30th of September.
