- Nov 6 - The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) is sponsoring a Veterans Job Fair on November 6, 2007 at the Earle Brown Centre in Brooklyn Center, MN from 11 am to 4:30 pm. DEED is expecting at least 90 employers to be present.
- Nov 11 - Veterans Day
- Sep 6/10 - The Moving Wall will be coming to the St. Cloud Veterans Affairs Medical Center on September 6 to 10, 2007. The Moving Wall is a half-sized replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial located in Washington, D.C.
- Sep 9 -
Automobile extravaganza to benefit MN troops deployed to the Middle East. September 9 from 9am to 3pm at Veteran's Memorial Park, Richfield, MN, 64th and Portland. Live auction at 1pm. Silent auctions hourly.
300-500 classic cars on display. FREE admission, donations encouraged. All donations will be used to send care packages to troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait. There will be live music, concessions, free items and live and silent auctions. www.victorydrive.org

- Sep 14 - The Minnesota Twins will celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the U.S. Air Force on Friday, September 14 at the Twins vs. Dodgers game. A special pre-game ceremony will honor past and present Air Force members.
- Sep 14 - Small Business Development Centers sponsors a FREE training seminar at the Sheraton Hotel in Minneapolis on the topic of Small Business Training for Veterans and Service Members. Learn how to explore and expand your business opportunities. The training is open to National Guard, Veterans, Reservists and thier spouses/partnets. While the event is free, preregistration is required.
- Sep 21 - The POW / MIA Vigil program will be held on September 21, 2007 at the Minnesota State Capitol in the WWII Memorial. The program starts at 3:30 pm.

- Joint Service Retiree Appreciation Day (RAD) Sep 29, 2007: The RAD will be held on Saturday, September 29th at Mystic Lake Casino/Hotel again this year. The event will begin at 0730 with check-in and continental breakfast. The sessions will begin at 0830 and end at 1600. Since this is an unfunded activity a registration fee of $27.00 must be collected in advance. The fee covers the cost for the use of the facilities and equipment, refreshments, lunch, taxes, and gratuities. Register by Aug. 31
Persons that fail to register in advance (by August 31st) will be charged an extra fee at on-site registration to cover the additional charges resulting from last minute changes. Sessions will include information on veterans benefits, retiree pay, other retiree issues, legal services, space “A”, long-term care, TRICARE retiree dental plan, TRICARE and TRICARE for life health benefits. Please call (612) 713-1516 for a registration form if you wish to attend this RAD.
The Mystic Lake Hotel has extended a special standard room rate of $79.00 (single/double occupancy, $10 more for each additional person) for those wishing to stay overnight. Room reservations must be made prior to September 10th and you must specify that you are attending the “Joint Military Retiree Council event”. - Duluth Retiree Appreciation Day (RAD) Sep 28 2007: The RAD in Duluth will be on Friday, September 28, 2007. It will be held at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites again. Lake Superior Chapter 119 will have a table there with information about TREA, etc. Pre registration is required. Forms will be in the Honors August issue or contact Mr. Gomes.
- Oct 27 - Women Veterans of Minnesota to honor World War II Women Veterans. Come to a noon luncheon atht eh Minneapolis VA Medical Center Atrium to thank Minnesota's WWII Women Veterans who scrificed so much to preserve and advance freedom. Reservations must be made by Friday, October 5th.
- Minnesota World War II Memorial Dedication - The MN WWII Memorial will be dedicated at the Minnesota State Capitol on June 9, 2007. The event will run from 10 am to 4:30 pm with the official dedication at 2 pm.
Planned events for the day will include:
- Capitol Building Events: static displays about the home front including legislation, information on the draft, labor shortages, rationing, black outs, civil defense, biographies of soldiers, and interviews of WII veterans by the historical society.
- Front Lawn of the Capitol: period re-actors, cantinas, military exhibits
- Red Cross Bloodmobile from 10 am to 3 pm. Call Pat at 651.296.0080 to schedule an appointment.
- Roll cal of Minnesota casualties of WWII by the monument
- First Aid tent
- Big tent: newsreels, networking, food, socializing
- Group picture of MN WWII veterans on the front steps of the capitol at 1:00 pm
- Flyover by WWII aircraft at 2:00 pm
- WWII era singers and orchestra perform popular period songs
- Program starts at 2:00 pm and includes color guard, speakers, music, and the dedication of the monument. Program ends with a 21 gun salute and Echo Taps.

- Armed Service Appreciation Day, Sunday, May 27 at 1300 Twins vs. Blue Jays. Up to 4 complimentary tickets for any current or former member of the US Armed Service or their families. - May 19, 2007 - EchoTaps 2007 takes place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. For more information, see the United Veterans Legislative Council of MN webpage.
- November 11, 2006 - Medal of Honor Recipients to be recognized at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
The last two United States Medal of Honor recipients to be buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery will be recognized and honored during a ceremony to be held at the Medal of Honor monument in the Cemetery on Veterans Day, November 11, 2006.
Lt. Richard Sorenson (passed away October 13, 2004) and Lt. Donald Rudolph (passed away May 25, 2006),, both World War II heroes from Minnesota, are buried at Ft. Snelling. Both veterans will be honored by having their names inscribed on the Medal of Honor monument in the center of the Cemetery and will each have a street at the Cemetery named after them.
The ceremony will begin at 10AM on Veterans Day and will take place at the monument. The speaker for the occasion will be Rev. Dr. Kenneth Beale, Jr., Chaplain of the Ft. Snelling Memorial Chapel. The Ft. Snelling Memorial Rifle Squad and members of Bugles Across America will perform Honors and Taps in recognition of the most valuable service these two veterans performed for our country during World War II.
The Medal of Honor is the Highest Military Honor given by the United States to recognize exceptional valor and heroism in the line of duty. Lt. Sorenson, a member of the United States Marine Corps, was awarded the Medal of Honor for exceptional valor while serving with the Corps in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. Lt. Rudolph, a member of the United States Army, received the Medal of Honor, again, for exceptional service during his time as an enlisted man in the European Theatre.
The public is invited to attend this special ceremony to honor these two brave Minnesotans.
Another part of this ceremony is a practice session for EchoTaps 2007 to be help on Armed Forces Day (May 19, 2007). EchoTaps will be an event you won't want to miss. More information can be found the EchoTaps Worldwide 2007 or the Dept. of Veterans Affairs website.

- September 21, 2006 - Governor Tim Pawlenty’s Minnesota Veteran’s Summit. " Let’s Go...Beyond the Yellow Ribbon". Addressing the Needs of Returning Combat Veterans and Their Families. This one-day summit will provide reintegration information and resources to those who shape state policy and provide services to veterans and their families. Government, private-sector and non-profit organizations, as well as veterans and their families are invited to attend. More information
- September 6, 2006 - Chapter president Ralph Donais meets with Minnesota Veteran's Commissioner Clark Dyrud at the month United Veterans Legislative Council of Minnesota (UVLC). TREA has been an active member of the UVLC for several years.
